Abstract

Molten iron is caused to solidify with a spheroidal graphite structure by treating it with porous coke, graphite or carbon which is impregnated with a metal selected from magnesium, sodium, potassium, rubidium or caesium. If coke is used some carburisation of the bath may also occur. The treating agent is produced by completely submerging the carbon material in a bath of the metal.
