Abstract
1,041,254. Snubbing systems for cranes. DRAVO CORPORATION. Sept. 6, 1963 [Oct. 1, 1962; Aug. 12, 1963], No. 35349/63. Heading B8B. Carriage 25 of a hoist has wheels 19 which run on rails 21 and hoists a load platform 44 by means of cables 37, 38, 39 and 41. Additionally the platform 44 is provided with snubbing cables 71, 73 which are secured to the platform at one end and at the other end are wound on drums 69 which are braked. Additionally each drum 69 is spring wound. The snubbing cables 71, 73 are therefore kept taut and serve to prevent oscillation of the platform. Snubbing drum 69 (Fig. 4, not shown).- Drum 69 is connected by chain to pulley 76 which is braked at 81 adjustable at 84. The connection of pulley 76 to its shaft is by one-way clutch operable remotely. Alternatively the braking may be done by means of a disc.
