Abstract

1,040,449. Intake silencers. JENN-AIR PRODUCTS CO. Ltd. Feb. 22, 1963, No. 7193/63. Heading F1B. An intake silencer for an air ventilating fan comprises a box 11 with an inlet 14 and outlet 19, a main baffle 38 with a central aperture 39, and an auxiliary baffle 41 between the aperture 39 and outlet 14. The baffles 38, 41 are formed by slabs of sound absorbing material supported by plates 28, 27, carried by a support structure 23 which rests on the upper edge of the box 11. The support structure comprises diagonal arms 23 carrying the plates 28, 27, and arms 33 which help to support the upper cover 15 on which the fan is mounted, the angle portions 31 of the support having flanges 32 hooking over the top of the box 11. The box is lined with sound absorbing material 37.
