Abstract

1,043,731. Exhaust silencers. H. J. W. GILLAM & E. M. TATTON. July 10, 1964 [April 10, 1963], No. 14454/63. Heading F1B. [Also in Division B7] A gas turbine generator plant 12, 13, has an exhaust pipe 23 opening into an exhaust chamber 25 lined with sound absorbing material and provided with a baffle 30 extending part way across the chamber to interrupt direct flow from inlet to outlet. The plant is enclosed in a soundproof housing 19 provided with an air inlet 16 connected by soundproof pipes 17 to an inlet chamber of the gas turbine 12. A branch pipe 34 leads cooling air to the generator 13 and ventilating air enters housing 19 through an inlet covered by a soundproof baffle, flows over the turbine casing and escapes via baffled openings 38, 39.
