Abstract

103,914. Scott, J. April 20, 1916. Winches; driving-gear; brakes.-An electricallyoperated hoist, particularly applicable as an ammunition hoist or ash hoist, has the motor A and the gearing between the motor shaft a<3> and the winch drum f<2> enclosed in the casing B, the driving-gear consisting of the conical clutch D, E, and the wheels d<1>, g<1>, g<2>, f<1>, and the braking- means of the clutch portion D and the conical cupshaped casting C. The driven clutch member D is positioned by means of a hand-lever M, and is movable axially to engage with the fixed clutch member E or with the brake casting C. The clutch members D, E are normally held disengaged by the spring H. The bearings, the intermediate shaft G, and the winch drum shaft F are detachable from the main casing B and can be withdrawn.
