Abstract
1,038,294. Turbines. WAGNER-HOCHDRUCK-DAMPFTURBINEN G.m.b.H. Aug. 16, 1963 [Aug. 18, 1962], No. 32601/63. Heading F1T. [Also in Division G1] Axial displacement of the rotor of a turbine such as a steam or gas turbine is detected by means of one or two control edges 6, 7 which project into a free oil jet 50 an amount depending on the position of the shaft 1 of the rotor. The jet 50 is provided by means of oil supplied at constant pressure to a nozzle 9. The receiving nozzle 10 communicates with a chamber 16 and with a relay 48 to operate a quick closure valve 43 if the displacement exceeds a certain value. The initial position of the nozzle relative to the control edges can be adjusted by a screw 17 which moves a nozzle holder 11. In the embodiment shown. The control edges 6, 7 are mounted on an extension 2 of the rotor shaft 1. Alternatively, a control edge could be formed on a collar on shaft 1.
