Abstract
1,070,104. Steam turbine plant. KAWASAKI JUKOGYO KABUSHIKI KAISHA. Aug. 17, 1964 [Aug. 15, 1963], No. 33610/64. Heading F1T. A marine steam turbine plant has a handle controlling the degree of opening of ahead and astern turbine admission valves wherein movement of the handle from the neutral position simultaneously controls the degree of opening of the boiler fuel valve and unbalance between the boiler output and the turbine steam requirements is eliminated by a secondary correction controlling the degree of opening of the turbine admission valve and/or the boiler fuel valve in response to the boiler pressure. A marine steam turbine plant comprises ahead and astern turbines 5, 6, respectively, driving a propeller 7. Steam is supplied from a boiler 9 through superheater 10 and ahead and astern admission control valves 3, 4. Movement of a control handle 2 from a neutral position opens an ahead or astern valve 3 or 4 and simultaneously controls the opening of the boiler fuel oil and air valves 14, 19 respectively, and the number of burners 16 in operation so as to control the boiler steam output. A device 12 measures the differential between the boiler output pressure and a predetermined pressure and transmits a secondary correcting signal to effect appropriate adjustment of ahead or astern valve 3 or 4. A device 26 effects secondary control of the boiler air valve 19. In a modification. Fig. 3 (not shown), device 12 effects secondary control of the boiler valves 14, 19 instead of valves 3, 4. In a further modification device 12 effects secondary control of valves 3, 4 and 14, 19.
