1,126,504. Automatic control of steam raising plant. CONTINENTAL ELEKTROINDUSTRIE A. G. [trading as CONTINENTAL ELEKTROINDUSTRIE A. G. ASKANIA-WERKE], Feb. 10, 1966 [Feb. 11, 1965], No.5927/66. Heading G3R. A system for controlling the pressure of the steam produced by a steam generator by controlling the flow of pulverised fuel to the furnace of the generator comprises means for measuring the flow of the fuel which includes measuring the pressure differentials across two nozzles in the fuel supply, the nozzles having different flow characteristics. A steam turbine 2 is supplied by a live steam line from a steam generator 1 having a furnace 1A fed with pulverised fuel by two supply lines 21, 22 from a pulverising mill 5, the mill being supplied with fuel from a feeder 5A driven by a motor 13 by way of a variable ratio gear 14. The ratio of the gear 14 is controlled by a device including a Ferraris motor 12 controlled by a control device 10. The supply of fuel to the furnace 1A is measured by transducers 25, 26 associated with nozzles 23, 24 in the fuel supply lines 21, 22 respectively, the nozzle 23 being circular in form whilst the nozzle 24 is in the form of a Venturi tube. The signals developed by transducers 25, 26 are fed to a computor 29 and the computed signal is fed to a device 17 together with a feedback signal from a position indicating transmitter 15 driven by the Ferraris motor 12. The device 17 modifies the output signal therefrom so as to introduce a variable time function thereto, the output signal then being fed to the control device 10. Also fed to the control device 10 are signals 9, 33 representing the error between the actual generated steam pressure 7 and the desired steam pressure 8 and the power output of the turbine 2 represented by the flow of steam thereto measured by a transducer 32. The three signals supplied to the control device 10 are added and compared with a signal from a potentiometer 50, the resultant signal controlling the Ferraris motor 12 by way of an amplifier 11. Alternatively the system can be modified to sense and control the steam temperature.
