733,727. Jet propulsion plant. SOC. NATIONALE D'ETUDE ET DE CONSTRUCTION DE MOTEURS D'AVIATION. April 21, 1953 [April 23, 1952], No. 10968/53. Class 110 (3). [Also in Group XXXIII] An arrangement for deflecting the jet from a jet propulsion nozzle comprises a solid or fluid obstacle for deflecting the jet, and means for supplying fluid to the wake-zone on the downstream side of the obstacle. As shown in Fig. 1, a jet propulsion unit has a compressor 2, combustion chambers 3 and a turbine rotor 4. The jet is deflected by two streams of air issuing from slots in a member 6 extending across the nozzle, and may be further guided by vanes 11 and 12. As seen in Fig. 3, two channels 14 and 15 feed air into the low pressure zone behind the member 6 by induced air flow f. An alternative is shown in Fig. 10, where the jet is deflected to one side only. Specifications 691,302, 691,948 and 696,088, [both in Group XXXIII], are referred to.
