Abstract
1,037,478. Stacking boxes. CHRISTIAN BERNER A.B. Dec. 1, 1964 [Dec. 3, 1963], No. 48708/64. Heading B8C. Pivoted members 6 (Fig. 1) supporting a stack of boxes or the like are pushed aside when a further box is raised on arms 17 and then the members 6 drop back into horizontal position to support the pile and the new box. The stacker is adjustable for various sizes of boxes. In the form shown the pivots 5 for the members 6 are attached to a pair of cross-bars 19 (Fig. 1, Fig. 2, not shown) which are movable towards each other by means of a bell crank 21. Guide plates 26 (Fig. 1) connected to the pivots 5 are consequently also adjustable. Supporting members 14 (Fig. 2, not shown) guided in rails 30 attached to the cross members 19 are also swung inwards about a horizontal pivot 13 when the cross members are adjusted so that arms 17 attached to the members 14 swing in to support a smaller box. The arms 17 are raised by pneumatic devices. Adjustable gates 28 (Fig. 1) which stop each box as it is fed in on the conveyer may be swung aside so that completed stacks which have been lowered on to the conveyer 2 may be removed from the stacker.
