Abstract
1,148,866. Stacking articles. DESMOND & SONS Ltd. 3 May, 1966, No. 19371/66. Heading B8C. A support 11 (Fig. 2) receiving an article 26 to be stacked on a table 15 is lowered along an upright guide 13 into engagement with the stack, and the engagement causes the guide 13 and support 11 to be slid along a horizontal guide 17, leaving the article 26 on the stack. In the form illustrated, garments 26 are supported by blades 11 of which the outer portions are resilient. When the blades 11 are lowered into engagement with the stack, plates (19), (Fig. 3, not shown), hinged beneath the blades are moved to operate a limit switch which causes the plates 11 to be withdrawn horizontally and then returned to their initial position. During the horizontal withdrawal of the plates the garment 26 is restrained by rods 16 (Fig. 2) passing through gaps between the blades 11. Operation of the rams 14A, 18A to return the blades 11 to their initial position is effected under the control of limit switches through a circuit employing pneumatic relays. A conveyer may carry away the stack. The rods 16 and the stacking platform 15 may be adjustable to accommodate garments of different sizes.
