Abstract
1,048,843. Wrapping machines. SCHWEIZERISCHE INDUSTRIE-GESELLSCHAFT. Jan. 30, 1964 [Jan. 31, 1963], No. 3939/64. Heading B8C. A device for wrapping articles as they are fed through a folding channel of adjustable height comprises at least one folder unit, each unit consisting of two fold blades one of which is attached to the upper wall 3 of the channel and the other to the lower wall 2 so that when the upper wall is adjusted vertically the gap between it and the blade attached thereto remains constant. Fig. 2 shows blades 4a and 4b which fold the parts of the wrapping material projecting over the vertical edges of the leading face on to the side walls of the article, the blades being movable outwardly against the force of springs. Fold plates 5 and 6 then fold projecting flaps over the horizontal edges of the side walls on to said side walls.' Fig. 4 shows an embodiment in which fold blades 14a and 14b arranged at right angles to the longitudinal direction of the channel and displaceable reciprocally in direction A to fold flaps on to the rear vertical face of an article while it is stationary in the channel. The blade 14b is pivotally secured by levers 15 and carries pins 16 which engage in sockets 17 fixed to the blade 14a so that the blade 14a is vertically displaceable relative to blade 14b. The blade 14a is connected to the upper wall 3 of the channel through a support 20 which includes a guide rail 19 in which a roller 18 on the blade is received.
