Abstract

1,037,298. Resilient mountings. SIMMERING-GRAZ-PAUKER A.G. FUR MASCHINEN-, KESSELUND WAGGONBAU. June 5, 1964 [June 7, 1963], No. 23446/64. Heading F2S. [Also in Division B7] Relates to a suspension means for supporting a railway bogie frame 15, Fig. 1, from an axle box casing 12. The suspension means comprises a first resilient means formed of coaxial rubber or synthetic resin rings 9, 10, 11 provided with annular bearing rings 12, 13, 14, this resilient means being subjected predominantly to forces arising from vertical relative movement between the member 2, 15, and second resilient means 16 housed in dust-tight manner within the first resilient means and comprised of an annular rubber or synthetic resin member pressfitted between metal sleeves 17, 18, the member 16 being secured to a support 26 secured to the member 15 and vertically slidable in a sleeve 6 secured to the member 2, the second resilient means being subjected predominantly to forces arising from horizontal relative movement between the members 2, 15. The member 16 is provided with steel or fabric stiffening inserts 31, Fig. 2 (not shown) and recesses 32 whereby the member is stiffer in a horizontal direction normal to the axle than in a direction parallel thereto. The inner surface of the sleeve 6 has a low friction lining 7. The member 16 is secured in the sleeves 17, 18 by clamping rings 19 to 22 and is prevented from rotating relative to the support 26 by a pin 30 carried by a hub part 24 of the sleeve 18 and engaging in a hole in the support 26. Horizontal movements of the rings 9, 10, 11 are limited by the outer tapering surface of the sleeve 6 and their median transverse portions are reduced in the radial direction so that when under compression those portions do not extend outwardly or inwardly of the outer and inner edges of theplates 12,13,14.
