871,861. Axle arrangements for railway vehicles. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. Dec. 23, 1957 [Dec. 29, 1956], No. 39570/56. Class 103(6). [Also in Group XXXIV] An axle assembly for a railway vehicle includes a split collar 10 which is secured to a live axle shaft 13 by bolts 16 or other means. A vehicle wheel may be attached to collar 10 by bolting the former to larger diameter flange 17a of collar 10 and a brake disc (Group XXXIV) comprising three ring sectors bolted together (not shown) is secured to flange 17 of split collar 10. Fig. 4 shows an alternative mounting arrangement for a split collar.
