Abstract

1,037,045. Gas burning jets. GEO. BRAY & CO. Ltd., J. HANCOCK, and A. WESTERMAN. Aug. 13, 1964 [Sept. 13, 1963], No. 36188/63. Heading F4T. A gas burning jet has a rectangular main orifice 3, Fig. 1, and auxiliary orifices 5 providing flames to maintain ignition of gas issuing from orifice 3. The gas passes from cavity 4 to annular chamber 6 via two slots 7 causing a reduction in pressure in the gas so that the auxiliary flames do not lift off. Semi-circular grooves may connect the top of jet body to auxiliary orifices 5, Fig. 4 (not shown). The jet is fitted into a metal socket which may have a windshield and the chamber 6 may be formed in the socket instead of in body 1, Figs. 7-9 (not shown). The auxiliary orifices may be at the top of frusto-conical projections and be coplanar with the main jet, Figs. 10-12 (not shown).
