Abstract

1282863 Gas burners RADIATION Ltd 14 Nov 1969 [16 Aug 1968] 39276/68 Heading F4T A gaseous fuel burner includes burner port supply zones 12, 19, two fuel supply passageways 5 and 20 and a fuel supply separation boundary 3 positioned to separate the two passageways 5, 20 so that at least one of the zones is in communication with one passageway and the remaining zones are in communication with the other passageway. The burner may comprise two body members 1, 2, each defining with a separation boundary plate 3 a supply passageway, and including a ledge 8, 15 positioned to support a burner supply port and recess which with corresponding recesses on the other member define the supply zones. Each fuel supply passageway includes a fuel inlet 6, 27 which includes a Venturi which may be formed by a shaped portion of a body member and the separation boundary or may be formed by a discrete assembly separable from the body members. The inlets may both be at one end of a rectilinear burner, or one at each end thereof. In a modification, the separation boundary includes a portion shaped to define a fuel supply zone between itself and one body member while a second portion defines a second supply zone between the boundary and the other body member. In a further modification, the burner is formed from a single metal casting and includes baffles to deflect fuel entering the zone from the supply passageway. The burner may be fitted with burner port assemblies as described in Specification 1,282,864 and crosslighting nozzles as described in Specification 1,282,865.
