Abstract
1,036,553. Pneumatic separators. P.OVERGARD. May 24,1965 [May 23,1964],No. 21871/65. Heading B2H. Grain or seed material to be cleaned of impurities is entrained in an air stream directed through an inlet 1 on to screens 3, 5 which allow the smaller particles of the impurities to pass through, the air stream then being cleaned of these impurities by centrifugal action before being directed through the partly cleaned material to separate out the larger particles of the impurities. A curved wall 15 causes the air stream leaving the screens to whirl and pass up between plates 9, 11, the centrifugal action causing the impurities to separate out into an outlet passage 13 controlled by a damper 10. The cleaned air then passes through the partly-cleaned material falling past baffles 6, 7 into a hopper 8 which is fitted with a weight-loaded or spring-loaded damper 12 at its inlet to prevent entry of air, the larger particles of impurities being carried to an outlet 2. A slit 14 returns any impurities escaping the opening 13.
