Abstract

1,035,820. Compartmented containers. HUNTLEY BOORNE & STEVENS Ltd., and BRITISH PAINTS Ltd. April 25, 1963 [April 25, 1962], No. 15686/62. Heading B8D. A component of a two-compartment container comprises a tube 1 open at each end, a liquid-tight flexible cup or bag member 7 of frangible flexible material, and an apertured end closure 3 fixing the open end of the cup to one end of the tube so that the cup extends across the bore and between the ends of the tube. The rim of the cup is sandwiched between rolled flanges on the tube 1 and end closure 3, or is fixed in position by heat sealing, welding or adhesives. To fill and complete the container a quantity of material is added through the end defined by the flange 5 and that end is closed by a conventional plate rolled around the flange 5. Another material is placed in the cup and the aperture of the member 3 closed by a lever lid, or by a screw cap. The cup is made of synthetic resin material or thin gauge metal and may be cylindrical, conical or hemispherical. When it is desired to mix the two materials the base 6 of the cup is punctured, or part of the cup may be removed by a projecting rod attached to the base of the cup.
