Abstract

A suspended ceiling consists of a framework of parallel main beams 1 suspended by hangers 5 and cross beams 2 running perpendicularly therebetween, the beams 1, 2 having flanges 6 and 9 as shown to support plaster boards, the upper edges of the webs 10 of the beams 2, where they engage the webs of the beams 1, having members 12 thereon for sliding into apertures 13. Aligned beams 10 at either side of a beam 1 have a common member 12. The beam 2 has a slit 8 in its flange 9, a portion of the web 10 above it engaging in a recess 11 in the turned edge 7 of the flange 6, thinner flanges 9<SP>1</SP> on the beam 2 fitting into a groove in the flange 6.
