Abstract

1,034,075. Boundary layer control. H. LACKENBY. March 8, 1963 [Jan. 23, 1962], No. 2521/62. Heading F2R. [Also in Division B7] Means on the hull for preventing flow-separation, and to boost or accelerate the flow, in the boundary layer at the after-body of a ship in forward motion comprises a plurality of devices disposed on the hull exterior at different levels on each side of the ship and in communication with the hull interior to issue into the boundary layer and in the aft direction jets of water from a piped water supply in the ship. The flow-separation preventing means may include means within the ship for sucking through openings in the hull slow-moving water from said boundary layer.
