Abstract

1,033,839. Cooling rollers. A. FELICI. March 9, 1965 [Jan. 30, 1965], No 10037/65. Heading F2U. Cooling water enters a hollow roller 1, for chocolate or varnish refining apparatus, axially through a supply pipe 5, and leaves through one end 2a of the roller via axial or radial ports 7 disposed in a circle at the maximum internal diameter of the roller, to be collected in a fixed annular header 8 discharging into a pipe 14. The ports 7 open into the header 8 through an annular axial extension 11 (Fig. 3, not shown), of the end 2a, which projects through an annular opening 10 of the header, a deflector ring 12 preventing leakage through the opening 10. The roller 1 includes bearing trunnions 3a, 3b. A water supply valve (not shown) may be controlled automatically in accordance with the header water temperature sensed by a thermometer 17 (Fig. 4, not shown) to maintain a constant roller temperature.
