Abstract

1,114,033. Rollers. PROLIZENZ A.G. 9 March, 1966 [9 March, 1965], No. 10348/66. Heading F2U. [Also in Division B3] A metal casting cooling roller consists of a core 11 and surrounding sleeve 12 with helical cooling channels 31 between them and connected to the same number of radial inlet passages 19, 20 and outlet passages 27, 28 at the ends of the roller so that equal quantities of cooling water flow in opposite directions to maintain the surface temperature substantially uniform. The coolant is supplied to passages 19, 20 from the bore 15 of an axial tube 13 and passages 27, 28 discharge into an annular space 16 between the tube 13 and core 11. Connecting ports between the inlet and outlet passages and the helical channels are formed in end distributer rings 23, 24.
