Abstract
1375496 Exhaust manifold ARVIN INDUSTRIES Inc 5 July 1972 [3 Dec 1971] 31419/72 Heading F1B An exhaust manifold for an I.C. engine comprises an outer sleeve 11 Fig. 1 with a plurality of slidably inter-fitting inner sleeves 30, 53 and first and second pairs of end caps 13, 35, there being rings 44 on the second pair of end caps slidably inter-connected to the outermost pair of inner sleeves to support the latter in spaced relation to the outer sleeve. An outlet conduit 23 contains a second outlet conduit 66 movable with respect to it and longitudinally spaced inlet conduits 20 contain second inlet conduits 55 connected to the inner sleeves. Compressible insulating material 68 is interposed between inner and outer sleeves and between their inlet and outlet conduits and also between end wall 38 and central wall 15 of caps 35 and 13. The outlet conduit may alternatively extend through one of the end caps, Fig. 4 (not shown).
