Abstract

1421384 Furnace conveyer rollers COMBUSTION ENG CO 14 Sept 1973 [18 Sept 1972] 43303/73 Heading F4B A fluid cooled conveyer roller 10 comprises a hollow metal core 12 with open ends 14 and 16, extensions 15 engaging bearings 18, a hollow tube 24 extending a considerable distance into the core and which may be coupled to a supply of cooling fluid and a threaded plug (28, Fig. 3) with an orifice (30) at the other end. For uniform flow through the core interior the crosssectional area of the orifice (30) should be equal to or slightly less than that of the annular passage 26 between the tube 24 and the core. The tube 24 may alternatively be connected to a vacuum pump or the like. The core has around it a series of asbestos washers 20 held under compression.
