103,299. Wieland, A. R., [Firm of], and Thierfelder, P. Jan. 13, 1916, [Convention date]. Addition to 1443/15. Knitting stockings and socks.--Comprises improvements on the invention described in the parent Specification, the object being to knit socks or stockings with French heels on a single machine, thereby avoiding the necessity of transferring the work to a second machine for the purpose of knitting the foot. The heel is formed in the manner described in the parent Specification, except that the narrowing of the marginal courses of the heel is effected only within the range of the rounding of the heel, between the parts c' and c<2>, the loops between c<2> and d of the remaining portion of the heel being removed when forming the foot.
