Abstract

599,610. Knitting. WOLSEY, Ltd., and RILEY, G. A. Sept. 2, 1944, No. 16754. [Class 74 (ii)] A stocking, sock or like has the heel or toe or both knitted by reprocatory knitting and composed of tuck stitch fabric. The loop accumulation may occur in every second wale, and may extend above the heel pouch. The stocking may have a ribbed leg and foot top. The stocking may be knitted upon a superposed cylinder machine in which the stitch cam 1 in the lower cylinder for reciprocation in one direction is cut away at la so that the knitting butts 4 of sliders can pass over it at tucking height. Alternate heel or toe needles have sliders 3a with additional butts 6 engaging a clearing cam 7. The intermediate sliders 3b are unaffected by the cam 7 and the corresponding needles return at tucking height over the cam 1.
