Abstract

A run-resistant barrier comprising courses of a single yarn, and having a stitch structure differing from the leg and instep portions, is knitted above the heel and/or toe of a circularly knitted stocking. The sole may be similarly knitted; the remainder of the stocking may be plain or micromesh. The run-resistant area may comprise courses of alternate tuck stitches, which may alternate with tight courses. The tighter stitches may be drawn over the lower loop-drawing edge of a two edge sinker movable radially of the circle. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 888,807.
