525,200. Knitting. LIEBERKNECHT, R., and LIEBERKNECHT, K., (trading as LIEBERKNECHT, F. K.). Feb. 15, 1939, Nos. 4976, 4977 and 4978. Convention dates, Feb. 15, 1938, March 24, 1938 and March 25, 1938. Drawings to Specification. [Class 74 (ii)] A stocking blank with a French foot produced by knitting the leg and foot as one piece of fabric, and then separating the high heel and side foot part, for the addition of heel parts, working heel parts on to the high heels and simultaneously connecting the loops of the initial courses of the foot parts to the heel by transfer, has one or more of the innermost loops of the foot parts transferred to the adjacent loops of the high heels before the first courses of the heels are knitted so as to strengthen the heel corner. During the knitting of the heel parts the frequency or the extent of the transfer or both may be varied in order to strengthen the connection at highly stressed places such as the heel corner and heel base. In order to facilitate running on of the needle loops of the high heels and the sinker loops of the foot side parts, the initial loops of the latter are formed as slack courses and the courses of both sets of loops are so laid that the loops are positively anchored to the fabric after separation.
