408,538. Knitting. LIEBERKNECHT GES., K., Oberlungwitz, Saxony, Germany. Oct. 21, 1933, No. 29213. Convention date, Aug. 24. [Class 74 (ii).] Sock lengths are produced in a continuous strip without narrowing upon a flat bed machine. The transfer courses 4<11> of the heel portions 4 are continued to the end of the central or instep portion 3, and, after completing the instep 3, transfer courses 3<11> are knitted over the whole width of the blank. The transfer courses 3<11>, 4<11> are knitted of cheap, thin material. After the blanks have been transferred to the plain machine for knitting the heels and toes, the superfluous courses 4<11> are cut away. Loose courses 3<1>, 4<1> are made immediately before the transfer courses 3<11>, 4<11>.
