Abstract

1,031,804. Opening containers. INDUSTRIE VERWERTUNGSPRODUKTE ANSTALT. March 7, 1963 [Nov. 15, 1962], No. 9071/63. Heading B8D. A metal can has an end formed with a pair of circular weakened lines 10 and a metal lever 1 welded or soldered to the can end by means of an alloy 11 in a recess of the can end, so that a bevelled end 9 of the lever may be pivoted downwards, guided by a ridge between the lines 10, so that it enters one of the lines thereby rupturing the can; the end of the can may then be torn out along that line. The lever is packed against the can end but has a handle 2, Fig. 4 (not shown), which can be raised on twisting a weakened zone 4 of the lever through 90 degrees.
