Abstract
1,030,432. Hand tool handles. H. SALMON, and H. OSTERMANN, [trading as GEB. VEREINIGTE MOP - WERK, SALMON, OSTERMANN & SOHN KOMM-GES.]. Jan. 31, 1963 [Jan. 31, 1962], No. 4116/63. Heading B4K. A means for fixing a resilient handle part 3 in a tubular handle 1 comprises a cylindrical bush 4 fitted on the end of the handle part 3 and adapted to be guided in the handle 1, elastic rings 6 being provided near each end of the bush which rings are inserted into circumferential grooves 2 in the inner wall of the tubular handle 1. As shown, the sleeve 4 has at least two annular grooves 5 the spacing of which corresponds to that of the grooves 2 in the member 1. The bush 4 is reinforced by a wire gauge insert 8. The marginal flange 7 of the member 1 determines the distance through which the sleeve can be withdrawn. An axial aperture 11 in the end wall of the sleeve allows for the projection of the wire core 11 of the handle part 3. In a modification, the rings are integral with the sleeve being in the form of bead rings 12, Fig. 2 (not shown), projecting beyond the outer diameter of the sleeve and divided by radial slots 13 into arcuate sections.
