680,110. Hose couplings. BOWDEN (ENGINEERS), Ltd. March 9, 1950 [March 15, 1949], No. 7053/49. Addition to 554,002. Class 99 (i). In a hose fitting in which a reinforced hose is clamped on to an insert 9 by the contraction of a sleeve 8, and a contractible ring 14 is provided in a groove in the exterior of the hose which extends to the reinforcement, one or more supplementary rings 16 are provided in a similar groove or grooves. The rings may coincide with external annular ribs 17, 18 on the sleeve, and there may be a further rib 19 between the last ring and the free end of the sleeve. The interior of the sleeve may be grooved adjacent the rings. The rings may be formed by wrapping strip material round the groove or they may.be cast or moulded in position. Specification 540,490 is referred to.
