[Also in Division B5] Bags.-A cross-bottom plastics bag is formed by folding the end of a bag tube to the shape shown in Fig. 4, making welds 23a to hold the triangular portions in position, and applying heated bars which form grooves 23 and lightly weld the bag bottom. The bag bottom is heated and irradiated with electrons; the glue is applied hot, but may be allowed to cool before the bottom flaps are folded along the grooves 23. A valve may be inserted in the bag bottom before this final folding. Conveyers.-A, pair of endless belts 12 and endless chains 13 grip between them a bag tube to carry it through a bag-making machine (see Division B5).
