Abstract

1,029,699. Mechanical seals. TAYLOR INDUSTRIAL CLUTCHES Ltd. March 17, 1965 [April 25, 1964], No. 17237/64. Heading F2B. A seal 15 carried by a stationary part 12 comprises a graphite ring 15b which is cemented to a sleeve 15a and urged by a spring 15c into engagement with a seating on a rotatable part 11, and seal lubricating means 17 including a felt pad 17a surrounding the seating and fed with lubricant through a duct 17c. The two parts 11, 12 serve to transmit fluid from inlet 21 to outlet 11a. The part 11 being mounted upon the part 12 by a bearing 14. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), the seal 15 is carried by the rotatable part and urged into engagement with a seating on the stationary part.
