Abstract

102,960. Compagnie des Forges et Acieries de la Marine et d'Homecourt. June 11, 1914, [Convention date]. Ordnance breech mechanism. - Relates to semiautomatic guns, and consists in a cartridge-ejector actuated by springs compressed during the recoil by a cranked lever engaging a fixed incline, the ejector being held by one or more sears adapted to be released by the breech-block, which also strikes against heel-pieces on the ejector. In Figs. 3, 4, 8, and 9, the invention is shown applied to a semi-automatic gun having a laterally sliding breech-block 1. The ejector comprises a forked lever 48, 50 operated by springs 56, which are compressed by a bell-crank lever 58, Figs. 3 and 4, actuated, when the gun recoils, by a fixed incline 60, Fig. 3, the end of the lever engaging the incline being provided with a roller 59. The ejector lever is held by sears 62, which are tripped by the breech-block 1 at the end of its opening movement, the breechblock at the same time striking against heelpieces 53 on the ejector. The lever 58 is held up, to keep the springs 56 compressed, by a pawl 61, Fig. 4, which can be put out of action by an external plunger 104, the ejector being then actuated solely by the impact of the breech-block on the heel-pieces. Shoulders 52 on the ejector engage the breech-block and prevent it from closing before the gun is loaded. To prevent the gun from closing during the loading operation, the breech-operating slide 20 is held by a spring catch 65, Fig. 9, normally held in the disengaged position, shown in Fig. 9, by a projection 67 on the pivoted rammer 64, but released so as to engage the slide 20 when the rammer is swung inwards.
