Abstract

1,029,246. Clamp fastenings. HARRIS & SHELDON (DISPLAY) Ltd. Aug. 3, 1962 [Aug. 10, 1961], No. 28873/61. Heading E2B. A mounting for securing articles on an elliptical rail 10 comprises a sleeve 11 extending to form arms 12, 13 enclosing an elliptical shape complementary to the rail 10, and a contractible band 15 pivoted to the arm 12. The band 15 consists of a toggle linkage 17 formed of channel-shaped metal pivoted at one end to a metal strip 16 and bearing a pin 20 at the other end, which, in use, is hooked over the part 21 of arm 13 and clamped by moving the linkage over-centre to the position in Fig. 7. Rubber gripping pads 23 are fitted to the strip 16. A tongue 22 is provided to facilitate release. In an alternative arrangement, the toggle linkage is hinged directly to one edge of the seating and the metal strip detachably hooked to the other edge. In a further arrangement the toggle linkage is curved to fit partially around the rail 10.
