Abstract

1,049,301. Body harness. E. MERCIER. Jan. 11, 1965 [Feb. 4, 1964], No. 1160/65. Heading A3V. A harness for transferring impacts and loads from the shoulders to the hips comprises a rigid back piece 1, of metal, leather or synthetic material, coupled to a belt, comprising sections 3 of similar rigid material secured by straps 4 at the front and by a rod 9 sliding in keepers 10 (Fig. 2 not shown) at the back, by rigid connecting pieces 5 and 6 jointed at 7. The member 6 is mounted for free or limited pivotal movement on the rod 9. A brace (not shown) may be secured between the members 5 and 6. Straps 8 connect the backplate to the front of the belt. The rigid parts of the harness are lined with soft material.
