Abstract

102,759. Periscopes & Hyposcopes, Ltd., and Youlten, W. Feb. 5, 1916. Sights.-Relates to means of the kind described in Specification 4334/15 for mounting a hyposcope on a machine gun having two vertical handles such as are provided on Maxim guns. According to the invention, the hyposcope is carried by a stem which is mounted on a bridgepiece rigidly attached to the two handles. In the construction shown in Figs. 1, 2, and 5, the bridge 7, to which is hinged a stem 13 carrying a prismatic hyposcope 17, is secured to the handles by the ordinary milled screws 3, 4 at the top. The ends 9, 10 of the bridge are slotted, as shown in Fig. 5, and are inserted under the heads of the previously slackened screws, which are then tightened. The hinged stem is held in either its raised or lowered position by a spring 14.
