112,058. Youlten, W., and Periscopes & Hyposcopes, Ltd. Jan. 16, 1917. Machine guns; sights and methods of sighting.-Relates to hyposcopes and attachments for manipulating machine guns from cover, and consists in the combination of a forked bracket carrying a wide prismatic hyposcope and a downwardly extending handle attachment having, if desired, means for operating the trigger. In Figs. 1 and 2, the invention is shown applied to a Lewis gun. The hyposcope prism 2 is mounted on a forked bracket X attached to the top of the spade grip by a screw. The downwardly extending attachment comprises a tube a terminating at the bottom in two handles m and secured to the gun by a clamp b around the spade grip, and by stay-rods c to the pistol grip. The trigger is operated by a Bowden wire g connected to thumb-plates r. An attachment modified for a Colt gun is also described.
