Abstract
14,881. Martin, J. E. June 26. Sights.-Relates to gun sights of the kind described in Specification 14,797/11, in which deviation of the sigbting- ray, for range and windage adjustment, is caused by movement of a lens or refracting-prism. According to this invention, the deviation of the ray is caused by one or two pairs of thin prisms, the prisms of each pair being rotated about a longitudinal axis equally in opposite directions. In Fig. 1 a pair of prisms is shown in the normal position, and in Fig. 2 they are shown after having been rotated in opposite directions to a position giving the greatest deviation. In the apparatus shown in Fig. 5, two sets of prisms, one for range and one for windage, are mounted in a tubular frame a and are adapted to be adjusted by milled heads'C, D. The prisms may be used in conjunction with the usual back and fore sights, or with a telescope sight or other combination of lenses.
