Abstract

1,025,096. Rotatable pipe coupling. " LE SUPER." April 22, 1963 [May 24, 1962; Dec. 20, 1962], No. 15832/63. Heading F2G. A vacuum cleaner tube has on one end a rotatable socket and on the other end a socket that may be fixed or rotatable. One end of the tube 1 carries an external ring 6 or 17 into which the tube is screwed or otherwise secured and in which the tube is held rigid by a hollow cylindrical part 10. The ring 6 may contain protuberances 9 arranged around the circumference of the ring and having a diameter substantially equal to the internal diameter of a housing 7 of a socket 2 into which the ring 6 is fitted, and in which it is held in place by a collar 8, screwed into or glued on to the housing 7, allowing the housing to rotate on the ring. The socket can receive suction cleaning accesseries or be introduced into a blowing orifice of the vacuum cleaner, or in a modification, the socket can receive suction cleaning accessories or accessories operating with compressed air. In the modification, Fig. 4 (and Fig. 5, not shown), the ring 6 is replaced by a ring 17 having helically arranged recesses 20 and annular projections 21 at each end, and is held in place by a collar 19. The socket at the other end of the tube permitting the connection of the tube to the suction orifice of the cleaner or to accessories for use with compressed air may be fixed with respect to the tube (Fig. 3, not shown) or may be rotatable (Fig. 4). In the latter case, the end of the tube 1 carries a ring 17 held in a housing 18 of the socket 3 by a collar 19. The open end of the socket 3 comprises two coaxial rings, the inner facing surfaces 22, 23 having inverse conicities enabling the socket to be connected to either the suction or the blowing orifice of the cleaner. The cylindrical part 10 is tapered at one end and the socket 2 has an internal ring 11 directing the flow of air and dust directly into the port 10 to prevent the introduction of dust into the housing.
