Abstract

1,023,099. Power-driven spanners. DESOUTTER BROTHERS Ltd. Feb. 11, 1965 [May 11, 1964], No. 19567/64. Heading B3N. A power-operated spanner comprises a reversible pneumatic motor 1 which drives an output shaft 5 through a double reduction gear 3, 4 and a one-way toothed clutch 6. A box spanner portion 28 is driven by shaft 5 through bevel gears 25, 26, spur gears 27-31 and a slot 32 in the spanner portion is positioned to coincide with a slot 33 by a pawl 34 which cooperates with a ratchet wheel 33. Air is supplied to motor 1 via a valve 12 actuated by a lever 13, and a reversing valve 16 actuated by a knob 17. A screwed and milled ring 36 is provided so that noses of different proportions can be substituted.
