Abstract

102,118. Hay, M. F. June 14, 1916. Submarine vessels; framing.-In a submarine vessel of the single or double hull types having a single pressure-resisting hull B supported by transverse frames A and bulkheads E, longitudinal girders C, D are provided to support the transverse frames and are secured to the bulkheads E and their vertical girders G. The superstructure H is arranged to coincide with the position of the longitudinal girders and is of sufficient strength to give support to the shell-carrying frames A. Columns J may extend between the longitudinals where convenient, enabling a lighter construction of girder to be used.
