Abstract

128,292. Lowenstein D. July 20, 1917. Submarine vessels.-A commercial submarine is constructed as an ordinary supermarine ship without the upper parts and is provided with a whaleback deck to which a float is attached by a connecting-member penetrable to water. The float 3 has pointed ends and is connected to the deck by the member 2 covered with plates. The vessel has cargo-holds 9, 10, 11, fore and aft ballast tanks 6, 7, bottom ballast tanks 8, fore and aft trimming tanks 4, 5, and a cylindrical high-pressure tank 12. A telescopic ventilating-pipe 14 is provided, as well as a telescopic smoke-stack 13 for the boilers 16. Electric accumulators are situated at 18, 19. The whaleback deck is supported by girders carried by pillars 21.
