Abstract

1,020,139. Drafting apparatus. SPINDELFABRIK SUSSEN, SCHURR, STAHLECKER & GRILL, G.m.b.H. Sept. 24, 1964, No. 38996/64. Heading D1D. A drafting roller loading arm 2 rotatable about a shaft 1 is lockable in its operative position by a locking lever 4 pivoted on the loading arm at 3. The locking arm 4 carries a pin 5 which, on rotation of the loading arm about pivot 3, moves in arcuate slots 2<SP>1</SP> in arm 2; in addition pin 5 carries a roller 6 such that when the loading and locking arms are in their operative positions (i.e. as in Fig. 1) the roller engages a recess 13<SP>1</SP> in an adjustable lever 12 to prevent the loading arm rising. Lever 12 is pivotable at 11 on a U-shaped bracket 7 clamped on shaft 1 by a bolt 8 and its position and thus the inclination of the loading arm 2 is adjustable by means of a screw 14 threaded through the lever and bearing against a flat 10 on the shaft 1, adjustable wedges, eccentrics or bolts may be used in place of screw 14. Projections 12<SP>1</SP>,1211 are formed on lever 12 to provide limit stops in the adjustment of the lever 12. On raising locking arm 4 increased pressure is initially met due to roller 6 passing over projections 131<SP>1</SP>; subsequently pin 5 reaches the end of slots 2<SP>1</SP> and lifts loading arm 2 as shown in Fig. 6 (not shown). In this position a leaf spring 16 engages the pivot 3 to hold arm 2 in the raised position. If arm 4 is pressed into the position shown in the chain-dot lines in Fig. 6 roller 6 engages a surface 131<SP>11</SP> on lever 12 and loading arm 2 is thus locked in the raised position shown. A cover 17 of spring steel or synthetic material may be provided.
