Abstract
1,043,027. Steady-rests. GEORG FISCHER A.G. April 2, 1965 [April 10, 1964], No. 14203/65. Headings B3D and B3T. A self-centring workpiece steady-rest comprises three two-armed levers 1, 2 and 3, lever 1 being mounted on a pivot pin 11 and levers 2 and 3 mounted on a pivot pin 21. The lever 3 is of the bell-crank type and is operatively connected by link 33 to the arm 13 of the lever 1 by a pivot pin 35. The arms 13 and 23 of the levers 1 and 2 respectively are provided with arcuate toothed portions 15 and 25 which respectively co-operate with worm gears 16 and 26 on a rotatable shaft 5. The other or free ends 12, 22 and 32 of the levers are provided with rollers 14, 24, 34 respectively, two at least being adjustable by eccentric means, e.g. pins 38 and 39. Rotation of the shaft 5 and the worm gears 16 and 26 effects common adjustment of all three levers. The shafts may be rotated manually or by means of an electric motor.
