Abstract

1,018,710. Circumferential-flow pumps. SIEMEN & HINSCH m.b.H. June 1, 1964, No. 22613/64. Heading F1C. In a self-priming side-channel centrifugal pump with more or less axial flow towards the suction slot and a covering element provided in front of the suction slot, the covering element is in the form of a guide rib covering only the initial part of the suction slot as seen in the direction of impeller rotation. During priming, liquid flung back from the impeller 2 through the initial part of the suction slot 8 towards the suction chamber is intercepted by a guide rib 10 which is inclined towards the impeller in the direction of rotation so as to deflect the liquid back to the impeller.
