A bin, Fig. 1, for storing and transporting granular material has a conical top 23 with a filler hole 24, and two rectangular discharge orifices covered by plates 34A, 34B, Fig. 6. The closure plates are operated by a handle 42 and a toggle linkage 38, 39 which swings bars 35A, 35B about pivot points 36A, 36B. Alternatively a single rectangular closure plate with V-shaped cut-outs on two opposite sides may be pivoted about its central point between "open" and " closed positions. Holes 45, Fig. 3, with stiffeners 46 are provided for the forks of a lift-truck. A recess 47 along one side of the base enables the bin to be placed at the edge of a lorry.
