A vehicle seat comprising a back frame 5 pivoted to a seat supporting base frame 1 and a link, which is coupled between frames 1 and 5 at points spaced from the pivotal axis of the latter and has a leg-like extension 7, is movable from a seating position, Fig. 1, in which the base frame 1 slopes down to the rear to a reclining position, Fig. 2, (not shown) in which the back frame 5 and the base frame are supported in a more horizontal position by the leg-like extension 7. To move the seat, the base frame 1 is tilted about pivots 9 and the back frame 5 and extension 7 pivoted rearwards so that pins 10 on extentions 7 are moved to and fro along slots in brackets 4 until the reclining position is reached. The seat may be slidably mounted on the floor. The brackets 4 may be replaced by members 36, Fig. 6, pivoted to a base frame 21 and back frame 29 about pivots 30, and having closed racks 37 engaged by spring loaded pegs 39 which by engaging different slots may adjust the inclination of the back frame 29. The fore and after adjustment of the seat may be altered by adjusting a peg 28 in a spring loaded rack 26.
