The concrete pressure vessel of a gas-cooled, graphite moderated nuclear reactor has an internal mild steel liner which is keyed to the concrete to ensure that linear movements of the concrete and steel, resulting from pressure and thermal effects, occur together. The keys may be formed of hooks, or circumferential and longitudinal ribs welded to the liner external surfaces and grouted into the concrete. Cooling of the liner is effected by pipes welded to the liner exterior surface.
